High Waisted Jeans? I think yes.

Well, There's been a lot of speculation lately. I confirmed last week while looking at the new jeans in Urban Outfitters that yes, High Waisted Flare Jeans Are Having A Comeback! But there's a very specific style. Not just any old flare- and definitely not super low-slung-butt-hanging-out flare jeans with the bad "curve inducing" fading. I'm talking 1970s glam-rock platform sandals/boots kind of high-waisted flares. And where am I going to buy them? Tatters, located a few stores away from the Lyndale/Lake street intersection in Minneapolis, has real vintage versions of the jeans in light wash, indigo, dark blue, etc, for around $15-$30. (They also have high-waisted leather pants too, for about $40!) The only problem is finding a size that fits. Urban Outfitters, as I said earlier, also has quite a few styles but are in the $60-$100 price range. Pretty quickly, lower-priced mainstream stores will be selling the style too. They are catching on fast, and definitely not a prisoner to high-fashion runways. SO GO BUY A PAIR!
A few different styling options:
1.) Wear light-wash flares with a worn brown belt, and a paisley or floral see-through blouse with a small bow at the color, and a black-lace bandeau bra underneath.
2.) Platform heels, to create a sleek line all the way down your leg.
3.) Buy a not-so-long inseam, and wear with black converse high-tops a la Joan Jett age 16.
4.) A white tank top lined with lace tucked in

4 More Fashion Inspirations

Here are 4 of my favorite people/characters: Effy Stonem (From Skins, the British version. The American one sucks. No offense.) Ramona Flowers (Character from Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, book and movie. I have movie pictures on here.) Joan Jett (musician) and Regina Spektor (musician) They are in backwards order on here, (I uploaded funny) So it starts with RegiSpek at the top.
They all have amazing style, and I love to see what they've come up with, fashion wise and music wise.

My Weekend Musical Inspiration

For a while now I've been looking for a new "Sunday morning breakfast" music pal that can sit right next to the boom box, always ready to be played. Kind of like lifelong theme music. Sometimes I like to look down on my life as if it were a movie, (definitely a boring movie, :) and imagine what the soundtrack would be. It would be a pretty crazy listening experience, I'd have to say.

LIFE THEME AS OF NOW: BON IVER.
The band was started by the main guy, Justin Vernon, in 2007. His amazing album, titled For Emma, Forever Ago, is an amazing trip of relaxation, whistling, humming and lullabies, soft banging drums, guitar melodies, and poetic, confusing lyrics. There's also a horn section thrown into the deal. He was joined by some friends in a remote northern Wisconsin cabin to record the majority of the album. It came out in 2008, and was well received. (Especially by me) An EP titled Blood Bank was released in 2009, which has some good tracks, but my heart stays with Emma. There's talk of a new album scheduled for release this June, which I am counting down the days for. (Not literally, I guess, but extremely definitely in spirit)
SO PLEASE GO LISTEN TO BON IVER BECAUSE IT'S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MUSIC

Key Tracks: Skinny Love, Flume, For Emma

Sorry I haven't blogged in months... but, I suppose no news is good news. Here's some inspiration for spring fashion, things I hope to find at the goodwill outlet. Possibly I'll post more recently starting now, but no promises. Life is too short to spend it all in front of a computer screen, right?
